casa josé font marzal

José Font Marzal was an important figure in the political and social scene of Jávea. He was the founder of the "Jesús Nazareno" Academy, which later continued as an Adapted Free School and finally became a Secondary School. During his youth in 1931, he led the Jaimistas of Valencia and was a representative of the Society of Authors Lyric-dramatic Archive.

EL RAVAL DE LA MAR

The house in Raval de la Mar, together with the house on the corner, was owned by the Bernabeu family, who built them in the last third of the 19th century. They were later acquired in the 1930s by the Font and Benimeli families, respectively.

For decades the legendary Font agency was located on its ground floor. From its basement (as is the case of the house next door) it was possible to pass underneath the current (wax?) and into an air-raid shelter-tunnel dated from the Civil War.

POSSIBILITIES

Given its characteristics as a bourgeois building, with high ceilings and a large courtyard, modified in the 1960s and 1980s, the construction of homes on the first and second floors could be considered, as is the case at the sister building next door.

The large, open-plan ground floor, together with its large courtyard, could be used for commercial purposes such as a craft shop with a garden display or a furniture shop. But the most recommendable would be to transform it into a bar or an Italian restaurant for example, as the large terrace would have to be taken advantage of for summer evenings, which would attract lots of people who love to be outdoors in the heart of Jávea’s old town.
