CASA LA RULLA

La Rulla House was built during the 19th century and occupied part of an earlier building dated from the 16th-17th century. The house occupies one of the first labyrinthine streets of the old town, a strategic point for the second most visited monument in the town, the Archaeological Museum.

The history within its walls.

It was owned by the Bolufer family, José Antonio Bolufer Cruañes, the famous founder of the "Pasera" family. His granddaughter Joaquina Bertomeu Bolufer lived there together with her husband, Doctor Rafael Bover Albi until the first quarter of the 20th century, when they moved to the Casa Bolufer they also took the reins of the political party and the family business following the death of her direct descendants.

The house is where Doctor Jaime Buigues lived and also where he held his surgery in the 1950s. The family of Jesús Montaner also lived there, they were school teachers and ran a stationery shop in the 1960s.

In the 80's it was acquired by the Rull family. La Rulla was the nickname of Nicolasa Bisquert, wife of the first mayor after the Civil War. Luis Cardona Pastor and mother to the current Rulls, ran shoe shops and newsagents in the village, port and Arenal. Currently it belongs to Cardona-Salvador family.

The spacious rooms on the ground floor and the patio could house temporary exhibitions, small concerts, book presentations, seminars and conferences. On the main floor a bookshop-café could be located, inspired by the mythical Argentinian cultural establishments of Buenos Aires. On the first floor the foundation and in the basement, the art and culture shop where one will be able to purchase original and stylish souvenirs of Jávea.

The house has its secret passage with its tales still intact, it is the perfect place to house dramas and plays for children and families.

The idea of locating a mini-summer school for promising young musicians and artists in this house could also be considered.
